China Visa Guide
U.S. passport holders need a Chinese tourist visa (L) to attend. The 10-year multi-entry L visa is straightforward — here's what you need.
What you'll need
- ◦U.S. passport valid for 6+ months past return, with 2+ blank pages
- ◦Completed visa application form (COVA online form, printed)
- ◦One recent color passport photo (33×48 mm, white background)
- ◦Copy of roundtrip flight booking
- ◦Hotel booking confirmation (or our invitation letter)
- ◦Invitation letter from us (we provide — signed, dated, with our passport copies + Yantai address)
- ◦Proof of U.S. residence (driver's license, utility bill)
- ◦Previous Chinese visas, if any (photocopy)
Step-by-step
- 1.Fill out the COVA online application at cova.mfa.gov.cn. Print the confirmation and form.
- 2.Gather all documents above + our invitation letter (we'll email a PDF 8 weeks before).
- 3.Book an appointment at your nearest CVASC (Chinese Visa Application Service Center).
- 4.Attend in person — fingerprints are required for most applicants.
- 5.Pick up passport + visa after 4 business days (express: 2–3 days for +$25).
Timing
Apply 4–8 weeks before travel. Processing is typically 4 business days regular, 2–3 days express.
